I watched the Oprah show yesterday and this is new advice Suze Orman is telling people about paying off credit cards. I found it interesting and thought I would make a written note of it here.
Thankful
I do feel bad for our situation, and at time just want to put my head in the sand. But in all honesty we are blessed, my husband has not one job but two jobs. I have not one but two work at home jobs. We are able to pay for our home and food on the table. I see on the news about people losing their homes and not having enough to pay their basic living expenses. I watch and listen to the never ending news and tv shows about how other are living in tents and living in shelters and I cringe, because that could easily be our family.
I need to learn to count my blessing everyday and learn that while it is very hard for us someone else always has it harder. We just need to continue forward and try not to be that someone else.
April Aching Debt
I am so glad we are starting a new month. I have been thinking quite a bit about our debt repayment the last part of March. I am getting antsy about getting to the end, but know that it is quite a ways away. It is still a project in process and will be for at least another few years.
We are working now on getting the house packed as we have decided to finally put our For Sale sign up. We have started packing in anticipation of the impending move. We have a place in mind where we are wanting to rent for at least a year. We are praying that this home will sell. If it doesn’t sell, we need to start making plans for an alternative plan. I have not gotten that far yet in my train of thought.
We have done all we can her with our current situation to decrease our expenses.
We have canceled quite a few things:
– Netflix (gone)
– cable (replaced with less expensive tv service and internet)
– phone service (work phone is free and house phone is only 20.00 month)
– cell phone (replace with a much cheaper on pay as needed) We only use our cell phone in emergencies,
– food (Angel Food Ministries) No eating out at all, all home cooked meals
Our next step to decreasing our debt even more is to sell our home, if at all possible.
Let us see what April brings.
Everyone has a cold except…
mom. I have managed to not get sick so far, and I am praying it stays this way. My 2 year old has been sick since this last Saturday. He has had a runny nose, a cough and a fever. I am keeping the fever down with medicine, but it keeps coming back. My 5 year old started getting sick this last Sunday, with the same symptoms as my 2 year old.
The first one to get sick was my husband, he has had the same symptoms as the two boys. He had to come home early from his second job on Sunday night, till then he had been able to keep the symptoms under control with medication. He seems to be getting better now. He stayed home on Monday to help me with the kids. Our two year old has been waking up at 3 am since Sunday coughing and this wakes him up. He then has a hard time going back to sleep and I do all I can to put him back to sleep. It has not been working he usually stays awake and so do I.
Today my 5 year old told me his ear hurts, so I immediately called and made appointments witht he pediatrician for both of them this afternoon. I am sure the older one has an ear infection, since he tells me it hurts even when he isn’t touching it.
