What is your favorite sound?

My favorite sound here lately is our grandfather clock that we recently installed. We have had it for about 2 years sitting in my son’s closet. Finally the other day I asked my father in law to help my husband install it.

The clock was actually my father in laws parent’s, it was in their home for a long time. They had it till they were ready to go to a retirement home about a year before they passed away. I hesitated to put it up thinking the chime would drive me nuts but I felt bad not hanging it up as it is pretty. Also my husband’s parents gave it to him to keep it in the family.

Now I am so glad I decided to hang it up, because I love the sound it makes. It is actually very soothing to hear it go off every 15 minutes and on the hour. I don’t even hear it at night which I thought would be a big problem.

Appliance Broken Fix It or Pitch It – Monday Money

Our extra fridge that we keep in the garage broke. It is in excellent condition and we used it all the time to store extra items we found on sale or rebates. It has been broken since November and I miss it so much. Our indoor fridge is often over flowing with items that are cramped and packed in just so by my husband, who I have to say is the master of using space well. To fix our outdoor fridge it would be like $90.00 to purchase a new one that is comparable would cost us $440.00.

This is what our fridge looks like now, it is cute and pretty.  I love that it is white, looks so squeaky clean all the time.

Hmmm I think I will fix it and keep using my fridge, plus it used to belong to my husbands grandparents and is only a few years old.

Don’t Let Good Ideas Slip Away

I get flustered  when  I have a good idea, but when I sit down to write it has gone bye bye.  Lately I have taken up a few habits to keep  me from letting those good idea slip away.

1-         I use the notes apps on my i Phone to jot down notes on the fly, no matter where I am at or what I am doing.

2-         I also have a little notebook in my purse with a small pen attached to it to write down quick small notes.  This way I can jog my memory on topics I am wanting  to write about.

3-         At night I have a journal next to my bed that I use to write down ideas before bed.  Also if I dream of anything that I want to write about I can turn on the light jot down the note and go back to bed.

These new habits are working great for me so far and I am sure I will develop other good habits as time passes.  Making my writing life so much more about the writing than the sitting there trying to remember that good idea I had.
