On The Money Monday – What’s Going On With My Money Dear

01/31/2011 by Sandra 2 Comments

I think he meant to say our money, he just had a slip of the brain thing going on.  That is what my husband asked me the other day.  I replied it is doing well, our money, which makes me happy in an odd kind of way.  I know he didn’t want all the detail right there and then he know pretty well how it is doing.

Now that we have been debt free for a little over a year, I don’t write much about getting out of debt.  I was actually reminded by a fellow blogger that I need to continue to share the ways that worked for us to get out of our debt.  I know what works for me might not work for you but then again it might help you get out of debt that much sooner.  Take what you can use and leave the rest, really my feeling won’t be hurt in any way shape or form.

1.  This is older post of mine, in which I share a great free tool.  I used this for a very long time on a daily basis, it can be customized to your personal needs.  It had a tiny learning curve for me, but worth the time for our family.

Which Part Of We Need Help Did They Not Understand

05/30/2009 by Sandra Leave a Comment

We have started talks with our mortgage company, letting them know we are in trouble.  We are not behind on our mortgage thanks to my husband working a second job and some fancy tweaking of our budget.  These bozos send us a notice today that our mortgage is going up by $65.00 a month.

Hmm maybe they have wax in their ears or something and understood that we are rolling in money and have a big tree in the backyard that gives fruit to $100.00 dollar bills.  Honestly you doodos are you trying to deliberately push us into forclosure.

Sigh going to have to rework our budget again so that we can stay on track with reducing our debt and still make our monthly.  I don’t know where else to cut but I will have to get my creative juices flowing on this one.l

I should have waited till Monday to get my mail, and enjoyed today and tomorrow, silly me and my obsession to open my dreaded mail box.

ER Rooms, Kidney Stone and other unexpected happenings

04/08/2009 by Sandra 2 Comments

It is only the 7th day of April and already Murphy’s Law is at work, well not that it ever stops.  Just a few days ago when my 2 year old was still sick and I was getting up a few times a night to soothe a coughing baby, we had yet another reason to stay up at 4am.  My dear husband woke up after just going back to sleep with a terrible back pain, constant and not planning on leaving anytime soon.  He woke me up and said he was going to drive himself to the ER before it got so bad he couldn’t drive.

Of course even with the little sleep I had had, I didn’t go back to sleep till I heard from him again.  He called shortly thereafter and told me that he had just passed a small pellet sized kidney stone.  The doctors gave him a presciption for pain and he was on his way home.  Ah the catch his cost was $150.00 plus I am sure we will get a bill in the mail for more.  Then 10.00 for his meds.

Earlier in the week the kids were sick with colds, and my 5 year old was complaining his ear was hurting, so I took both kids in to see the doctor.  It turns out they both had ear infections in the left ear, so 40.00 for that visit and 20.00 for the antibiotics.  So our unexpected expenses for this month so far are $240.00

These things are part of life and we are doing our best to stay on track with our debt reduction and so far have not had to dip into savings for these expenses.  I am cutting down here and there mostly on our grocery bill to help cover these unexpected things.
