52 Weeks, 52 Letters Project

snail mail!

I am a bit late starting this but I will start my week one this week.  We have not had any mail since last Monday so I hope we have mail today, but it depends on the weather.  The 52 Weeks, 52 Letters project has inspired me to get writing.
I do ask that my kids write thank you but have to admit I have not written a letter snail mail in a while, so I think this one will be one I will enjoy much.

“One piece of “real” mail sent out each week. It can be a letter, a postcard, a care package, a thank you note, handmade art, etc. I’m searching for all of the cards and stationary I have collected over the years and gathering them into one place with pens, envelopes (regular & padded), lots of stamps (.28 & .44), a glue stick, unlined index cards (great for making postcards), and a few USPS Small Flat Rate boxes. Oh, and I’m updating my address book.”

I love this. There’s just something about writing an honest pen on paper letter that’s very centering. It forces you to be in the moment. Present. Focused. No multitasking, just writing.

I am going to write 52 letters in 2011. Not necessarily to 52 different people, and I imagine that many of them will actually live in the same city as I do. I invite you to join this challenge. Write to those you’ve lost contact with and write to those you chat with on a daily basis. Write to your spouse, maybe even your own children.

On The Money Money – Financial Update Feb

I really need to do these update more often for our sake.  Keeps me accountable to actually see it in writing, and also motivates me like nothing else can.

I have been using Mvelopes now for several months and I have not regretted for one minute signing up for it.  Though I really need to use it more diligently in order to help me keep our food budget down.  This is really for us one of the envelopes that is hard to keep down.

Our emergency fund is now at $3388.00 which is only 88.00 more than in January, hmmm I need to tweek something here.  Need to make sure I am updating this more often.  This needs to be improving on a regular basis and it is not improving  right at this moment.

Here is a resource I used before I tried Mvelopes that worked for me that were FREE.

Excel Monthly Cash Flow Budget Sheet From It’s Your Money – I used this sheet for a long time and still have it, since I never know when I am going to want to go back to doing it without  Mvelopes.  It is a great resource to use so check it out and let me know what you think in the comments.

In the mean time I will behave and update finances regularly, when tell your money what to do there is less chance someone else will tell it what to do for you.

Have a great Monday!
