Our Family Conversation During Dinner

12/15/2009 by Sandra 4 Comments

Last night  we had a very interesting topic, it was about our meal planning.  I am not sure how it got started but we decided as a family to have.

Taco Night – Friday

Stir Fry Night

Left Over Night

Salad Night

Cuban Night –

New Recipe Night

Breakfast Night

The only night that has been decided is Taco Night, which we have been doing since before Thanksgiving.  It is working great, we all love it and know wheat to expect that night for dinner.

The rest of the ideas will have to be worked in over time.  I think this was a great conversation and I do hope we have more like these.

I love the idea of family meal charts, and menus!! I think it’s super for kids to know what dinner is ahead of time. But I’m terrible at planning ahead. Do you shop for all the weeks food at once? Or over the course of the week??

It is good to involve kids with meal planning. They would know what to expect and will surely eat if they agreed to have the dish for that particular mealtime.

Thanks for visiting Shannon welcome. I am currently trying to be consistent with meal planning. I do buy ahead for a week’s worth, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I am working my way up to being better at it.

I am planning on adding a few meal charts etc.

Two things we usually have (if the week isn’t too busy) is homemade pizza. That usually happens either Friday, Saturday or Sunday night. It almost always involves a movie too. We also love homemade Sweet & Sour Chicken. That can happen any time I have all the ingredeints on hand, which is 99% of the time.
