A New Look at Our Spending

11/14/2011 by Sandra 1 Comment

We have been free of credit card debt since Jan 2010. I think that is correct my memory is not clear. You would think that this date would be one I would never forget. bleh

I took a new look at our spending plan and it is needing to be tweaked mainly in the food department. So here are a few resources I have found to be helpful to me in changing our spending plan around.

USDA Food Plans

USDA Cost of Food

I am trying my hand out at coupons to help lower our food budget and stretch our dollar.  I got a nice taste of spending 52.oo approx on groceries and it went down to 3.08 final cost.  That was quite a rush to see it go down like that, and this has inspired me to continue working on doing this and learning more about how to save this way.

I am now working on this weeks shopping list for our family.

To be continued………..

On The Money Monday

02/21/2011 by Sandra 3 Comments

Last week I added $20.00 to my savings pot, now this week I add another $20.00.   And so my little savings pot grows, but I am feeling a bit blue lately, this gray weather is driving me nuts.  I have a tiny bit of money saved and feel like poop.  (go figure)

Partly too because I feel I write on this little blog to the wind at times, but just posting my thoughts here helps me along on my path and then the other part is this winter weather.  It will all pass soon and I will be my old colorful self again, this I know.  Ah the best part is by next week my little pot will have $60.00 in it. (grin)

Let me share some some financial inspiration.

On The Money Monday – What’s Going On With My Money Dear

01/31/2011 by Sandra 2 Comments

I think he meant to say our money, he just had a slip of the brain thing going on.  That is what my husband asked me the other day.  I replied it is doing well, our money, which makes me happy in an odd kind of way.  I know he didn’t want all the detail right there and then he know pretty well how it is doing.

Now that we have been debt free for a little over a year, I don’t write much about getting out of debt.  I was actually reminded by a fellow blogger that I need to continue to share the ways that worked for us to get out of our debt.  I know what works for me might not work for you but then again it might help you get out of debt that much sooner.  Take what you can use and leave the rest, really my feeling won’t be hurt in any way shape or form.

1.  This is older post of mine, in which I share a great free tool.  I used this for a very long time on a daily basis, it can be customized to your personal needs.  It had a tiny learning curve for me, but worth the time for our family.
