What Tech Can You Not Live Without?

I have not had my i Phone for too long, and always wondered what all the hoopla was about, why everyone was so into this tech thingy.

When we were getting out of huge debt I canceled our cell phone plans.  I just didn’t want anything with a contract tying up our money.  Took a bit but finally convinced my husband that was the way to go for that time.  We used some minute phone for emergencies only.  Once we got out of debt last January we were finally ready to jump into the tech of the i Phone.

Let me tell you at first I resented the expense the first month it hurt me the second month same feeling.  As I learned how to use it more and more it blew my mind how useful this tech was for us.  I was suddenly hooked  at how much my new little device could do.

Now I feel that this tech is one I can’t live without, well if we ever needed to for the sake of staying out of debt I would.  Yet for the time being this mommy is enjoying it and using it on a daily basis.

As a mommy there is one app for my kids allowance that has been a life saver, no more having to use a paper notebook.  I can add and subtract allowance given and used.  This way my son knows how much he has left to spend at the click of a button.

What one piece of  technology  can’t you  without?

Also, what tech do you wish would disappear from the world?

What are 3 Things You Can Do to be a Better Friend to the People in your Life?

How can I be a better friend to the awesome people in my life, let me count the ways.  Well for the moment I will just highlight 3, have to give myself a limit or else you will be reading a book.

1.  Give your friend time:  it take time to build a friendship, you have to tend to it like a delicate plant.  If you don’t spend at least a bit of time it will wither away.  I really need to work on this one a bit more,  I tend to get get sucked into the daily life routing and it’s like a dog chasing it’s tail.

2.  I need to improve the listening skills, so that my friends know I am connect to what they are saying.  Many times someone is speaking and I am thinking about what I am going to make for dinner tonight or my right arm will be eaten.  Something about having hungry kids pulling at me just keeps me a bit distracted you know.  Yet if I am talking with a friend I need to give during that time my undivided attention then go back to thinking about my meal or other plans.

3.  Be there for my friends when the going get rough as well as in good times.  Don’t check out when they are in a pickle, and calls for you to watch their 2 kids for the night because mommy is feeling under the weather.   Well that one is a bit out there but be there when a friend call because she is going through a rough patch.  When the grass is green again they will appreciate you being there.  Hey sometimes it’s just an ear they need to try to work thing through and not much else.

All the people in my life would gain from me following these 3 things, now if someone would give this list to my better half it would very much appreciated.

What are some things that you could do to be a better friend to the people in your life?

What is your favorite sound?

01/25/2011 by Sandra 3 Comments

My favorite sound here lately is our grandfather clock that we recently installed. We have had it for about 2 years sitting in my son’s closet. Finally the other day I asked my father in law to help my husband install it.

The clock was actually my father in laws parent’s, it was in their home for a long time. They had it till they were ready to go to a retirement home about a year before they passed away. I hesitated to put it up thinking the chime would drive me nuts but I felt bad not hanging it up as it is pretty. Also my husband’s parents gave it to him to keep it in the family.

Now I am so glad I decided to hang it up, because I love the sound it makes. It is actually very soothing to hear it go off every 15 minutes and on the hour. I don’t even hear it at night which I thought would be a big problem.

Do you have a favorite sound?

Can You Handle the Truth?

01/22/2011 by Sandra Leave a Comment

It’s human nature not wanting to admit you are wrong, right .  I can handle the truth depending on if I am right or wrong.  This is according to my husband.  He says I can’t handle the truth and that it takes me a while to think about the situation before I can handle the truth.  I guess from an outsider looking in that is about right.  I want some  cheese with my whine darn it, I think I have earned my pouting right. sigh

Depending on the situation, I may deny the truth even when it is right in my face.  But I do have to admit the truth even if it hurts is good accountability to have thrown at me.

So the response is no I can’t  handle the truth,  darn it.  I will pout and stomp but the truth is the truth and all the pouting in the world won’t change it.  It just take me sometime to swallow the pill, and yes I will need a little bit of water to gulp the truth down.

How about you Can You Handle the Truth?
